I suffer from a chronic condition which, even once diagnosed and being treated means I need regular blood tests and check ups. I've had it for 10 years and its never cost me anything and I am totally satisfied with my treatment. I've only ever lived in the UK so I dont know how I would have faired in other countries but I've got no complaints about how i have been treated

Under five mortality ranking of 151 out of 190 is one of the worst in the world? Try Liberia's page for a bad ranking.

As for the whole socialized medicine vs. private medicine issue, I cannot put forth an opinion, for I have not experienced both systems.

bottom line, companies are always after a profit, and will never insure anyone they view as unable to pay. Governments have the benefits of FORCED equality, as well as the fact that they would not go after a profit. Also, i think the discussion here is going a little far for a CARTOON

Hey Dave, you did a real good job proving your point. Nothing makes people want to listen to you more when you use plenty of profanity. Oh, and you can't forget to call other country's citizens "faggots." That really makes you sound like you know what you're talking about.

I am American, and it's neanderthals like you that makes other countries hate us.

Wow, so Dave.. until now your government has spent 600.000.000.000,00 dollars (about a million euros, haha) in Iraq and exactly nill on your american healthcare system.
In Europe, I can walk into a hospital when injured and will be helped. No-one will ask me for my creditcard or redirect me to a free clinic with insufficient funds to ptoperly help me.
And all this for 100 Euros a month.
My teeth are being cared for by a dentist for free, I receive new glasses when I need them for free and should I develop cancer, I will get the newest medication... for free.

The thing is that you people are actually conditioned by the same insurancecompanies that benefit from the absence of proper government regulations to believe that this is the best way to organise healthcare.

Keep believing this while the deathrate for children in the US is amongst the highest in the world and three quarters of american citizens rely on healthcare worst than a second world country.
While Cuba has the lowest child death rates in south america and we stupid europeans with our ideals on social standards are still healthier than you Dave..

Back to China? China has universal healthcare like Liechtenstein has a navy.

If we had universal health-care, Aside from the huge costs, I'd imagine the US, in addition to being fat and stupid(not everybody, just most people) alot of these people would be paranoid and whiny, and if they could get free health-care, they would take advantage of it to the point of crowding emergency rooms with complaints of an elbow scrape or a cold, plus health-care is unnecesarily overpriced.

Whoever drew this needs to go back to China.. Universal health care will never, ever happen.

yes i know. lets only give healthcare to those who can afford it. lets see how well that works. oh wait it doesnt work. it means that social inequality grows deeper, as the lowest sections of society die earlier.
a country where someone can be refused treatment because they do not happen to earn 70,000 dollars a year is not a great country. america can not be the greatest country on earth if such inequalities still exist.
oh yeah and obama's pastor was right.

I laugh cause I don't have to worry about how much getting ill will cost in medical bills.

If the companies assume the government is paying, and they follow typical activity. This will only provide incentive for prices to be raised. The money for your "free" medical care will be taken right out of your own pocket.

Yes, the current healthcare system in this country is problematic. However, it's still at least 10 times better than what it would be if we had national healthcare.

It works in Australia, France, New Zealand, Canada, etc.. why is the USA so against it? Afraid of taking the pressure off the workforce to allow it to spend more money in other more capitalist industries? Afraid of raising the living standard? Who knows...
